Kuari Pass Trek
Overview
This is a classic Garhwal trek along the famous Curzon trail - named after Lord Curzon, the viceroy of India after he walked this route. Our carefully planned itinerary balances fabulous walking and sublime views across the Himalayas while trudging to local villages and holy pilgrimage sites along upper Ganges.

Day 1 - Arrive in Delhi, the national capital of India, the city which is as historic as modern. After clearing immigration and customs formalities; proceed towards the arrival hall, where you will be greeted by our office representative. He will assist you to the vehicle and will take you to the Delhi Hotel. There are no activities planned for the first day, so simply relax at the Hotel and recover your energy levels or depending upon your flight schedules we can plan some. Stay Overnight in Delhi.

Day 3 - Drive to Lohajung through Alaknanda Valley and enjoy stunning views on way. Early evening arrive Lohajung the first camp site. Overnight Camp ( 152 Kms / 6-7 hrs)

Day 4 - Today you will start the first day trek to Didana through the forests, Gyana Ganga Valley, rhododendrons and fir forests. Afternoon reach to your camping site for overnight stay. (Walking 4-5 hrs)

Day 7 - Today after breakfast a day trek to Roopkund passes through some of the stunning and exotic landscape of Himalayas with long stretch of Oak forest and snow fields. Return to our camp for overnight stay.

Day 8 - This morning after breakfast trek to Wan passing through dense forests and along rivers we reach village of Wan where we set up camp for the night. (Walking 5-6 hrs)

Day 9 - Today the trail climbs through magnificent cypress trees to the Kukin Khal Pass at 3069m. This pass divides Nandakini and Vaan Valleys. The path now descends to a broad meadow on a paved stone trail to Kunol Village, a traditional Garhwali settlement with stone and slate houses and excellent views of Trisul. A very pleasant walk in the afternoon takes us on a broad cliff path above the river to pine forest and some more villages. Near Sutol, we cross the Nandakini River on a solid iron bridge and camp for the night. (Walking 6-7 hrs).

Day 10 - After breakfast we climb steeply up from the camp on a winding trail into open grassy meadows. As we walk through the village we may look out for the ornate woodcarvings above the doors of the houses in Ala. Afternoon reach camp site at Ramani. (Walking 4-5 hrs).

Day 11 - After breakfast start a long day trek that compensates our efforts with fabulous views all around. We start with a gradual climb to the Ramani Pass (3064m) known locally as Binayak Top. There are magnificent views of snow covered peaks through the tall trees. Late afternoon reach at camp site for overnight stay. (Walking 6-7 hrs)

Day 12 - Following breakfast our trek goes above Pana Village before a steep climb up into rhododendron forest. The path now descends gently traversing along the valley to the open meadows at Sartoli with views across to the Kuari Pass. This is a wild country and is now above all habitation. Afternoon reach our camp below the Kuari Pass a large open pasture used by shepherds to graze their herds of sheep and goats in the summer. Overnight stay in camps (Walking 5-6 hrs).

Day 13 - Today an early start to climb and reach Kauri pass top to enjoy the views. The trail winds to the top of the pass where the views are often cited as the best in the Indian Himalaya. We descend slowly to reach our camp site at Talli to enjoy amazing sunset views of Nanda Devi (on a clear day) Overnight stay in camps. (Walking 6- 7 hrs).

Day 14 - Today the trail is narrow and requires cautious walking as we follow a long undulating trail down to Auli with views of Nanda Devi all the way down to the ridge. Trek finishes at Auli in the afternoon and transfer about an hour to Joshimath for overnight stay in hotel. (Walking. 5 hrs).
